Description

Beamsville is a small unassuming town in the west end of the Niagara Fruit Belt, nestled between Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment. It lacks the glamour of Rome or even Niagara-on-the-Lake, but I can’t imagine a better place to call home. I can walk out my front door and in five minutes be strolling beside a vineyard. Or, I can get in my car and in ninety minutes attend a concert in downtown Toronto. My neighbourhood is safe, quiet and friendly, and the house prices are the envy of folks from the big city. I can push my grandson in a stroller a short distance to either of two excellent little parks with playground equipment. We have fruit blossoms in the spring, beautiful gardens in the summer, fresh fruits and vegetables in the fall, and snow (but not too much) in the winter. Beamsville has enough stores to provide most of our everyday needs. We have access to local doctors, dentists and other professional services, as well as an excellent hospital in nearby Grimsby. Families can take advantage of the arena, the public library and a new outdoor swimming pool. Then there is the food! Roadside fruit stands offer fresh items from tart Veecot apricots to cute yellow pattypan squashes. We have two family-owned bakeries with a European flavor. A business called Niagara Presents offers distinctive sauces, relishes and jams, made from local produce. The famous Good Earth Cooking School is hidden on a working fruit farm. Many wineries on the “Thirty Bench” offer tastings of their excellent products. Within a short drive are a number of world class restaurants, most attached to wineries. You can spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon, tasting wine and looking out across Lake Ontario from picturesque winery patios, then finish with a fine dining experience - all close to home. For a healthy and relaxed life style, not too far away from the attractions of the big city, Beamsville is the place to live.
